Dutch design meets French design and craftsmanship…

… Best of both worlds!
Being a design freak, I get lots of email from all sorts of brands and stores I love, I always sign up to newsletters and generously give my email. Obviously now and then I do have clear up a bit and unsubscribe so it doesn’t clutter too much… Roche Bobois never bothers me that much, just every 3 months or so and I like that rhythm. Some weeks ago I was happy to receive the email saying that the Globe Trotter by Marcel Wanders from Roche Bobois is now available.

Two brands I love collaborate; this must be good! So I am definitely clicking further. Obviously it has been presented in Milan already and no doubt have been in the magazines, however I cannot recall the latter. So let’s have a look!
For starters on top of the page there is a very long video – 12minutes – and my crappy internet connection fails all the time, so the 12 minutes take more then 20 minutes! Although I like the use of colours and images used, I am not too impressed by this video. Maybe I am missing the point?
So then lets click on the mini brochure…
The brochure does make me feel so much better, and then when you click on the YouTube video...
All makes sense!
Loving this rug – which is from the Fresco, the rug is called Paris, would like it for my study!

And I think the inspirational shape derived from the hot air balloon is just grand. You can find that back in the sofa and the lamps and they are just brilliant (see top picture).
I do like the console below and might work lovely as a TV console. If allowed to say that, as you will NEVER see any designer or brand promoting the TV unless a piece of furniture is really made to hold the TV.. Just browse through the magazines, do you even see a living room with a TV in it?

All photos above are derived from the Roche Bobois website.
So although the living room in the first picture looks lovely, it’s too much put together, let’s see how I would use the sofa and console…

How about using; “who is afraid of red, yellow and blue”, but then dulled!
The use of three opposite colours in the colour wheel is called triad colour scheme. This is quite a difficult scheme to use and you would always need something, often a fabric, but in this case wallpaper, that is the talking piece and hold all colours together. Looking at my mood board, I like to think I nailed it..

The rug seems a bit dull on this picture, but it is awesome in when you see it up close. It’s made from silk and wool with a golden yellow text and a burgundy red/brown base, from, www.jan-kath.de and it says “it’s springtime all year” repeatedly on the rug.

The flowers “Bouqet’ have a 100cm height and made of felt and are from Wandschappen and can be found at the Frozen Fountain Amsterdam, click further on my pin to get to the shop.
The flower mural holds all the colours and is the talking piece on the board, to find the supplier click further on my Pinterest page. It is from Nous decor. It gets repined all the time, so people must like this one!
The coffee table has been around for some time now you might have seen it before, I love it, it is the Bell table from Sebastian Herkner.
Hope I have given you some new inspiration. Obviously there are lots of ways to use this lovely new line from Roche-Bobois!
