From the UK, one of my favorites is Elle Decoration.
I feel and am lucky to get my hands on the Elle Decoration October 2017. In Abu Dhabi it seems to be a popular magazine as it is sold out quickly and also most probably my local super market might just get a few magazines as they stack a lot of international magazines. I love that fact as I get to have a look in interior magazines from the US, Australia, UK, France, the Arab world and so on.
From the UK, one of my favorites is Elle Decoration. They are usually bang on trend and most probably I like the British style. Although I am a huge fan of our great Dutch designers and the Danish designers whom are fabulous as well.

So, what does it has to offer this month. A lot of things obviously, but I have selected these three pictures from the magazine. All a bit blue and wintery although I choose them for a different reason. They do look lovely together!
But let’s start with the cover, I like that pastel theme that is going on for a couple of years now. One could argue that it doesn’t reflect the current season, autumn and upcoming season, winter. When I am looking at this cover, two things immediately pop into my mind, as to me this room could do with a little lift. I picture this awesome wallpaper from Cole and Son, Prism, and how about these cute upholstered beetle ones from Gubi I have below in the mood board? I think they are jewels and that either color would go well.

What else have I selected? The picture of the bed is from an article discussing the interior of the Henriette Hotel in London. I love how the designer has designed the hotel and in particular the head boards, four different ones in total. The colors work well together and the style to me is a definite nod to the Art Deco period, which is still very much in trend.
Rich materials, colors and the brass that has been used, all gives a luxurious feel to it. Below my picks that reflect this style. I think Tom Dixon was one the designers that started this trend with his brass lamps a couple of years ago, so I have added one of his lamp to the mood board.

The rug is designed by Patricia Urquiola for CC-Tapis, the lamp is designed by Tom Dixon, the wallpaper is from Cole and son, deco palm and the ottoman is from Baxter. The butler mirror is vintage and you can look for similar at your local antique shop or 1stdibs.com.

The fashion picture is derived from http://stylecaster.com/nyfw-trends-fall-2017/#slide-3om/pin/328551735297591422/, the carpet is from Moooicarpets, Eden and the wall mural is from https://www.surfaceview.co.uk and the link is also found via my Pinterest page.
So, what made me choose the page with the copy of the painting from “The Girl with a Pearl Earring”, by Johannes Vermeer, 1665. Besides the fact that I love the fact that one of the great Dutch painters is in the magazine, it is also a trend that is going on with our Dutch Masters that play the lead role in this. I love this trend and I think I should thank Marcel Wanders for that with his design for the carpet Eden made by Moooicarpets. Above you can see the picture of this wall mural with huge flowers which is also based on an old painting by a Dutch master, and you can order these murals to size which is brilliant I think. For more details see my Pinterest page, in the link above, this mural is often repined, people must like it!
Finally, in the corner of the page of the magazine, is a beautifully burgundy-red with a hint of purple in it, wall paint applied. Now this is a picture of set, so not really an actual house where someone lives. But this red is gorgeous and would be great in a room on the north side of a house, a place where you would snuggle up by the fireplace and read a book. Unfortunately, no mentioning of the paint being used in the article. As you can see this red is also very much in fashion in the other world of fashion, lots of red during the 2017 fall fashion week in NY.
Finally, this bedroom below (From www.talithacollection.com):
The third picture I choose appears to be someone’s bedroom and I love how different style objects, materials and items from various decades are combined and yet it still works. Lovely!
However, this is not someone’s bedroom this is a “lifestyle concept space” from the brand Talitha in Nothing hill, London. Everything is for sale in this “shop- apartment”, next time when I am in London I am definitely dropping in!
