The promised follow up of the previous blog!

Finishings and furnishings for the master bedroom area…from the “black” bathroom discussed earlier we go into a more warm dark brown bedroom and dressing room.

Above you will find the board with the selection I have made for this area. I combined the finishings board with the selected lamps so you have an idea about the lighting.

The floor will be made of Wenge wood in a knit parquet. I have a sample of the wood at the bottom of the board. It is a quite dark wood with almost black colours in it. The Wenge wood will also be found in other parts of the house. I like it when flooring is similar throughout a house, the living room will have a twist but most flooring will be similar.

The darker paint colour selected for the inside of bathroom will also be used on the outside walls of the bathroom, which is the middle block of the master bedroom area. The surrounding walls throughout the bedroom and dressing room will be a lighter version of warm grey.

I will use this wallpaper from Black Edition for the walls surrounding the bed. It has an incredibly large pattern, 160cm, so what you see on the board above is about 1 pattern. This will make the room feel grand with its 3 meter height ceiling. This wallpaper has a beautiful combination of warm and cold colours without any overpowering. I also like the unclear lines.

The baroque feeling of the wallpaper is repeated in the sky garden pendant lamp from Marcel Wanders. The other ceiling lights are from Occhio and are really high tech, they will give phenomenal lighting and will accentuate the walls beautifully. You can control them using your smart device (phone or iPad).

Next to the bed I will place these Zues bed lights, I love these types of lights, you can read at night without the use of lots of lighting which might wake up your partner. On the nightstands I will place lamps, either use the rabbit for a quirky feel to it, of perhaps a ceramic colourful lamp with shade to complement a colour in the wallpaper. I am postponing this decision until the wallpaper is in place.

For the dressing room area, the flooring and the wardrobe is selected. I have talked about the wardrobe in an earlier blog. It has been designed with my clients wishes in mind so it will not only look great but also be functional. In the board above I have added three pictures which give the feel of the wardrobe. Some doors will be glass and others will be lacquered in a warm grey finish, the inside and sides are in the same brown wood. The door handles will have a touch of matt gold. That matt gold is found back in the architectural lighting.

I still have to select some items for the dressing room such as the curtains, I would like a pattern in these as at this point the dressing room is a bit boring with a lot of wood found back in the floor and wardrobe. And I think maybe a rug – runner perhaps – and a small elegant sofa.

I like the idea of a pink sofa, as pink and dark brown look spectacular together. The pink is not really found in the wallpaper, although I have put the wallpaper above the sofa in the picture, it won’t be anywhere near the sofa and dressing room curtains. And you have to agree with me, picking a blue green would be very straightforward and easy. I my opinion  way to “matchy matchy”… a warm orange would work with the wallpaper, but then again it is a warm colour. I like the coldness in the pink with all the warm colours around it! Above the sofa I found a fabric for the curtains that I think could work, Trees by Sacho.

Come back later and check out what I have chosen in the end!
